SUMMER 2024 WORKSHOPS & FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM
TIDEWATER CONDUCTING SUMMIT & COMPETITION
June 12 – 16, 2024 | Old Dominion University – Norfolk, VA
Full Program Tuition: $850.00 (includes dorm housing, scholarships available)
Auditor: $30.00 per day
Program Highlights: Participants will work with Dr. Kevin Sedatole, Director of Bands at Michigan State University, and conduct Newfound Chamber Winds in the inaugural Tidewater Conducting Competition. Conductors will receive 90+ minutes of podium time and two videos of concert footage during competition rounds. Finalists will conduct a live performance in the concluding concert of the summit.
OLD DOMINION UNIVERSITY BAND DIRECTORS WORKSHOP
June 14 – 16, 2024 | Old Dominion University – Norfolk, VA
Full Program Tuition: $195.00
Auditor: $30.00 per day
Program Highlights: Participants will conduct two clinic rounds with a lab concert band coached by Dr. Terry Austin, Director of Bands at Virginia Commonwealth University (RET.), and CAPT Brian Walden, conductor of the United States Navy Band (RET.). Participants will also engage in seminar sessions and round table discussions with ODU faculty. Evening social events and networking will conclude each day.
NEWFOUND CHAMBER WINDS FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM
June 10 – 17, 2024 | Old Dominion University – Norfolk, VA
Instruments: Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, & Horn
Full Program Tuition: $700.00 (includes dorm housing, scholarships available)
Application Details: A total of 10 fellows will be invited to represent standard wind dectet instrumentations. Fellows should be, at minimum, a rising sophomore in college and demonstrate exceptional playing ability. Applications will be accepted beginning January 1, 2024. Fellows will be notified of their acceptance by early March.
Program Highlights: Fellows will sit side-by-side in workshop, rehearsal, & performance settings with the Newfound Chamber Winds. They will study privately, prepare wind quintets and chamber winds repertoire for public performance, & develop skills central to the life of a 21st-century professional concert musician.
