Get to know one of our newest musicians – Christopher Pawlowski, bassoon

Christopher Pawlowski

When was your first encounter with music?

The first encounter with music that I remember was listening to my dads classic rock cd’s. My first classical music encounters were sometime in my elementary years as my grandmother and I would often attend concerts at the Plano and Dallas symphonies.

When/How did you start playing your instrument?

I started playing the bassoon in 6th grade band when I started middle school. I always knew that I wanted to play it as I was greatly inspired by seeing the pros play it at the concerts with my grandmother.

When did you decide to make music your career?

I think I must have made the decision somewhere in between my transition from middle school to high school as I started to really improve at that point and was starting to experience higher level successes at TMEA region and state auditions.

What is your favorite memory of a performance?

It is nearly impossible to chose one memory as a favorite as I have been so fortunate to have been part of countless meaningful musical experiences. Two of my favorites are performing Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4 with Orchestre de la Francophonie in 2016 and performing Bartok’s Concerto for Orchestra in a side by side with the Cleveland Orchestra in 2015.

What do you like to do outside of music?

Outside of music, I enjoy movies, video games, amateur cosplay, hiking, and relaxing at the beach.
